Inspiration from the building's location, surroundings, sea views, and horizon, we have developed the interior design project for the Shallow Sun Club restaurant for AZOTEA GRUPO, located on the rooftop of the Meliá Innside hotel in Mallorca.
The ocean's blues and beach tones, along with vibrant and lively summer hues, guided our selection of fabrics, textures, and colors (such as nautical stripes, floral patterns, chairs in blues and corals…).
The restaurant welcomes us through a vegetal "tunnel," which gathers us and introduces us to the Shallow Sun Club world.
The space is organized with a layout that opens towards the sea, aiming to allow the end user to enjoy the marvelous sea views. A central bench becomes the focal point, dividing the terrace into two zones and creating circulation around it. This design not only considers the restaurant's aesthetics but also focuses on functionality and operational efficiency.
Various seating arrangements have been incorporated to ensure each dining experience is unique and to avoid monotony. In the central area, there are benches and square tables for versatility, round tables for groups, and a perimeter area with low lounge chairs facing the beach, creating a more relaxed and informal atmosphere. This setup allows guests to enjoy a formal meal in the central area mentioned earlier and then relax in a more relaxed and laid-back manner with a drink or cocktail.
Vegetation also plays a significant role in the terrace design proposal. Being located atop the building in an open environment, we aimed to bring natural elements to our rooftop, creating a cozy, warm, and natural space that envelops the user and helps define and delineate spaces.
In essence, our natural environment has guided us throughout the entire process of designing the restaurant, from start to finish.
